Unknown to many Goh Liu Ying played through the pain barrier as she partnered Chan Peng Soon to create history for Malaysia in the quarterfinal win of the All England Championships at the National Indoor Arena.
Virtually unable to move, Goh underwent treatment for her back this morning under the supervision of the officials from the National Sports Institute.
And despite a sore back, Goh/Pang went on to defeat the English/Scotland pairing of Chris Addock/Imogen Bankier 21-16, 15-21, 21-17 and have qualified for the semi finals of a major event in world badminton.
This augurs well for their Olympic preparation and come what may in the semis, credit should be given to the duo, especially Chan who underwent a family tragedy and overcame it with starength.
