THE DARREN OF A NEW ERA

From debutant to quarterfinalist. And when Liew Darren goes to bed tonight he will be dreaming of taking it to another step, making the semifinals of the All England Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.

But standing in his way will be  a Korean, Lee Hyun Il to be precise but Darren is taking all the challenges into his stride.

Having sent home favourite Rajiv Ouseph packing to make the quarters, Darren was spot on when he said that he had nothing to lose but everything to gain.

And one must look back into history books to find out when was the last time that Malaysia had two singles quarterfinalists in the All England.

Saying in jest that his biggest motivation was the media, for all the brickbats he has received, Dareen said that getting tips from his sifu Lee Chong Wei helped him progress.

Being single and available as Dareen put it, the youngster will sure relish his chance against the Korean whom he had beaten before.

The nation awaits Darren, he has done well but its one little step that we are now looking for.
