MSIA TURN PAKISTAN DOWN

This is a news report that appeared in Pakistan papers two days ago. What we really cannot understand is MHF denying its own team of much needed exposure. Wonder if the interim coaches were consulted before the decision was taken? Or maybe it was the National team Management Committee that made the decision over a cup of coffee somewhere.

LAHORE: The Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) has refused to send its hockey team to Pakistan due to ‘some internal problems’. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had extended invitation to the MHF for a series in February this year to revive hockey activities at home. “The PHF was waiting for a final decision but the MHF officials have turned down our request saying that they have yet to appoint a foreign coach for their team and above all their team is not prepared for the tour,” a spokesman for the PHF told reporters here on Monday. He added the PHF would now request South Korea, China and Japan to visit Pakistan to play a hockey series before the Asia Cup to be held in May 2009 in Dubai,” he said.
